The tri-nation cricket series between the “A” teams of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Ireland officially began today (Sunday) in the United Arab Emirates under Afghanistan’s hosting.
The opening match of the series, currently underway, features the Ireland A and Sri Lanka A teams going head-to-head.
This 50-over format series is being held as part of preparations for future international competitions, with all three sides expected to rotate players and test depth in their squads.
Afghanistan A is scheduled to play its first match in the series on April 15 against Sri Lanka A.
Earlier, the Afghan A team made a strong impression by defeating Ireland A in a four-day match by an innings and 194 runs.
Afghanistan A team captain, Darwish Rasooli, in a pre-series press conference, highlighted that the team is well-prepared and confident heading into the tri-series battles.
Following the conclusion of this one-day series, Afghanistan A will once again face Sri Lanka A in an additional four-day match, continuing their preparations and match readiness.
