A three-day exhibition titled “Orange Blossom” has been launched in the eastern province of Nangarhar, aiming to promote domestic products and strengthen Afghanistan’s local industry. The event, organized by a private company, features 160 booths showcasing goods from various sectors.
Masood Haqmal, the organizer, highlighted the event’s objective: “Industrialists and traders from across different industries have participated in this exhibition to present their products and connect with buyers.”
Sayed Abdul Basir Pacha, head of Nangarhar’s Industry and Commerce Department, said the broader goal is to introduce Afghan-made goods to international markets. “We are working to create opportunities for our products to reach global platforms,” he stated.
The exhibition drew attention to both opportunities and ongoing challenges faced by local entrepreneurs. Several participants expressed the need for government support and infrastructure development to boost domestic production.
Masiullah, one of the exhibitors, stressed the importance of quality control: “The government should stop the import of low-quality medicines and support local businesses instead.”
Another exhibitor, Abdul Rahman Jumazai, pointed to financial barriers: “We’ve invested from our own pockets. It’s vital to strengthen the banking system so that business owners can access much-needed loans.”
Local officials assured the business community of continued support. Azizullah Mustafa, deputy governor of Nangarhar, said: “We remain committed to facilitating investment in the province and backing our traders in every area.”
Similar exhibitions held across Afghanistan in recent months have been credited with boosting awareness, encouraging local investment, and connecting producers with new markets.
