During a recent meeting organized by local authorities in Panjshir, several important development projects were discussed, alongside the challenges faced by residents in the province.
The governor of Panjshir highlighted the approval of the Dalan-Sang Dam project, which is being led by the Islamic Emirate’s leadership. Initial work has begun on this project, while the Parandi Dam is also nearing completion. The cost of the Parandi Dam project is estimated at $7.6 million, and it will have the capacity to generate four megawatts of electricity. The governor expressed optimism that this project, which had been stalled for years, will soon be inaugurated, thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Water and local leadership.
Additionally, Rahmatullah Mohammadi, the mayor of Bazarak, Panjshir, announced the construction of a new recreational park with a budget of 70 million Afghanis. The contract for the park has already been signed, and the construction company is expected to begin work in the coming days.
During the meeting, local residents shared their concerns, highlighting various issues such as the destruction of roads, inadequate telecommunications networks, lack of clean drinking water, and shortages in the healthcare and education sectors. Residents also voiced their frustrations about the lack of attention to agricultural issues, including the irrigation canals that are vital for local farming.
Baz Mohammad, a local resident, expressed concerns over the lack of support for agriculture, saying that the community is dealing with these challenges despite severe poverty. Another resident, Mohammad Sharif, urged the Ministry of Public Works and other relevant authorities to carry out their work more attentively.
In response, local officials assured the people that they would work diligently to address these challenges throughout the current solar year and ensure the completion of ongoing and upcoming projects. The meeting aimed to strengthen the relationship between the local government and the people, ensuring that the voices of residents are heard and their needs addressed.
