Herat, Afghanistan – A three-day saffron flower exhibition, showcasing the strength and potential of Afghanistan’s saffron industry, concluded successfully on Saturday in Herat. The event brought together dozens of domestic and international companies in a collaborative effort to boost trade and promote Afghan products globally.

Over 100 booths displayed a diverse range of domestic goods, with participants from neighboring countries including Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, highlighting regional interest in Afghanistan’s premium saffron and agricultural products.

Tasal Khan, the event organizer, stated:

“To support local industries and promote Afghan products, we brought together around 100 booths featuring both national and international traders.”

The primary goal of the exhibition was to promote domestic production, facilitate international exports, and provide a platform for Afghan entrepreneurs to engage with global markets.

Younus Qazizada, head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, emphasized the role of such events:

“In recent years, several exhibitions have been organized to support marketing, international recognition, and export growth, with active participation from saffron producers in Herat and across Afghanistan.”

Booth owners expressed optimism, noting significant improvement in the quality of domestic products. They urged authorities to create more export opportunities and reduce barriers to global trade.

Abdul Jalil Khairzada, a local exhibitor, commented:

“This is beneficial for both Afghanistan and the international community. Afghan businesses and entrepreneurs have a lot to offer and deserve global recognition.”

Officials from the Islamic Emirate reiterated their commitment to supporting local industries and increasing self-reliance through domestic production.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said:

“The Islamic Emirate remains committed to supporting industrialists. We urge citizens, government agencies, and organizations to prioritize local products and continue organizing such impactful national and international exhibitions.”

According to private sector data, Afghanistan has achieved self-sufficiency in over 130 sectors. Products such as saffron, dried fruits, non-alcoholic beverages, and herbal medicines are already being exported to several countries.
