Haqqani urges high standards as officials identify challenges at Abrisham Bridge border point
NIMROZ, Afghanistan – Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, Deputy Minister for Health Services at the Ministry of Public Health, paid a visit to the Abrisham Bridge border crossing in Nimroz province to evaluate healthcare services being provided to Afghan refugees returning from Pakistan.
Haqqani was joined by the deputy governor of Nimroz as well as a team of health professionals and technical staff during the assessment mission.
The visit focused on inspecting healthcare centers operating at the border, with attention to their preparedness and capacity to serve returnees. Haqqani emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality medical care to those arriving back in the country, many of whom are in vulnerable conditions.
“Refugees returning home deserve dignity and proper treatment,” he stated during the visit, urging healthcare officials to adhere to strict standards in service delivery.
The accompanying technical team also conducted a detailed evaluation and noted a number of operational issues. These have been formally reported to relevant departments for resolution.
Authorities say further steps will be taken to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of healthcare services in border regions as the number of returnees continues to rise.
