Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that there will be “all hell to pay” if Tehran refuses to abandon its nuclear ambitions, according to remarks made by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Friday. The comments come just ahead of scheduled talks between U.S. and Iranian delegations in Oman.
Leavitt emphasized that President Trump remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. “The president believes in diplomacy, but all options are on the table if diplomatic efforts fail,” she said, as reported by Reuters.
“He’s made it very clear to the Iranians—and his national security team will as well—that Iran has a choice to make. You can agree to President Trump’s demand, or there will be all hell to pay,” Leavitt added, highlighting the administration’s tough stance.
The high-stakes meeting on Saturday will see U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff engage with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi acting as an intermediary.
Trump recently reinstated his “maximum pressure” campaign aimed at crippling Iran’s oil exports in an effort to halt its nuclear program. Earlier this week, he warned, “If the talks are unsuccessful, Iran is going to be in great danger.”
