Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, commended Uzbekistan’s positive stance toward Afghanistan, highlighting the significant expansion of political, economic, and trade relations between the two countries.

Fitrat emphasized that the caretaker government is keen to broaden its relations with neighboring countries, the region, and the international community. He stated, “Recently, Afghanistan’s relations with Uzbekistan have grown in various sectors, including politics, economy, trade, transit, and investment. The Islamic Emirate aims to strengthen comprehensive ties with neighboring countries, the region, and the global community.”

In a similar vein, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue with Afghanistan’s current authorities during his speech at the 150th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which saw participation from representatives of 140 countries. Mirziyoyev stated, “We must not forget our neighbor – Afghanistan. It is essential to prevent the isolation of this country on the international stage, engage in dialogue with its current authorities, and view Afghanistan as an integral part of Central Asia that offers new opportunities.”

Political analysts also support global engagement with Afghanistan, noting the potential benefits driven by national interest. Zalmay Afghan Yar shared his perspective, saying, “The caretaker government has committed to focusing on the economy, non-interference, and regional stability. President Mirziyoyev’s remarks align with efforts to protect Afghanistan’s global interests. I hope dialogue can resolve conflicts.”

Abdul Sadiq Hamidzoy added, “International norms advocate for engagement to promote equality, human rights, and global order. Cooperation is vital to addressing issues and creating opportunities.”

This development coincides with the first-ever joint summit between EU and Central Asian leaders, where there was a shared concern over Afghanistan’s humanitarian situation and a collective pledge to support its people.
