BEIJING, March 24 (Reuters) – Stephen Orlins, the president of the National Committee on United States-China Relations (NCUSCR), emphasized that both China and the United States should cooperate in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) to avoid duplication of efforts. His comments came during the China Development Forum in Beijing, where he spoke to reporters, as seen in a video clip posted by Financial News, which is owned by China’s central bank.
AI has increasingly become a focal point of tension between the two global powers. In recent years, the United States has imposed a series of sanctions targeting China’s AI and chip industries, citing national security concerns. The U.S. government argues that these measures are necessary to curb China’s development of technologies that could potentially have military applications.
The National Committee on United States-China Relations is a non-profit advisory body that fosters dialogue and understanding between the two countries.
