US Vice President J.D. Vance recently commented on the rights of green card holders, emphasizing that these individuals do not have unlimited rights to stay in the United States. Speaking on Fox News, Vance stated:
“A green card holder does not have unlimited rights to stay in the United States,” he said. “This is not fundamentally about free speech. Yes, it is a national security issue, but more importantly, it is about us as the American people deciding who can join our national community.”
While green cards grant foreign nationals the right to live and work in the United States, Vance underscored that such residency is not a lifelong guarantee. His remarks suggest a focus on national security and the need for the American public to have a say in who can join the nation’s community.
