A tragic roof collapse in Karachi, Pakistan, on Saturday night has claimed the lives of six young girls, aged between three and 15 years, and left four other family members injured, local authorities confirmed.
According to police, 10 people were trapped under the debris after the roof—constructed using sand and gravel—of an under-construction house caved in. The incident occurred in a residential area where construction work was reportedly ongoing.
Doctors at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital confirmed the fatalities and said the injured include a 40-year-old man and a three-year-old boy, all of whom belong to the same family.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed profound grief over the incident, offering condolences and prayers for the deceased. He has directed authorities to launch an immediate investigation into the cause of the collapse and ensure medical assistance for the injured.
Rescue teams remain at the site, working to clear the rubble and assess structural risks in neighboring areas.
